Signature Bank in Illinois is always looking out for its customers. A corporate CFO reached out to his trusted commercial banker at Signature, Tim Hanson, for advice on a suspicious email from someone who appeared to be the client’s CEO, requesting a wire transfer. Hanson took a look and had similar concerns. The email sounded urgent. Hanson suggested the CEO reach out to the sender to confirm. It was indeed fraudulent, and the CEO’s email had been hacked.
