When the pandemic struck, Montecito Bank & Trust took action by converting its Hollister branch located in Goleta, Calif., into a COVID-19 relief center. The team members at the center of this endeavor were strictly focused on helping to process PPP loans for customers in need. Bankers voluntarily worked overtime—including weekends—to ensure the financial well-being of their community during this trying time.
To support these hard-working associates, bank leadership launched an Activated Relief Pay program and a spot bonus rewards program for those going above and beyond. Bank leadership also enabled associates to transition to remote work when possible to aid in facilitating social distancing measures—protecting both employees and customers alike. Staff were also shown gratitude directly from CEO Janet Garufis who delivered delicious homemade cookies to each team—keeping them well-fed and in high spirits.
