Senior Champions at Bank of the Rockies are a special sect of employees who are passionate about assisting older bank customers. They are dedicated to empowering financial consumers with the vital knowledge they need to make smart decisions, and are well versed in issues affecting the elder community, including fraud detection and prevention. As part of their endeavors, the bank participates and uses resources available from the ABA Foundation’s Safe Banking for Seniors program to train their staff on elder abuse prevention, and to facilitate outreach efforts.
Senior Champions help facilitate the partnerships Bank of the Rockies has with elder justice agencies in Montana. They also organize and facilitate community outreach events in the community, such as the Dance to End Alzheimer’s. They have hosted joint presentations for residents with Adult Protective Services and other elder justice stakeholders, and always strive to think outside of the box to address the issues disproportionately affecting older people.
The ongoing success of this program has earned Bank of the Rockies a 2021 Community Commitment Award from the ABA Foundation. This award recognizes and promotes the many valuable ways banks of all sizes contribute to economic growth, community development and enhancing the quality of life in their communities—and is a true badge of honor for any bank to earn.
