In 2021, UMB donated more than $6 million to five Kansas City, Mo. and Denver, Colo., organizations that support underserved communities’ housing needs, small business efforts, education and emerging talent.
Additionally, UMB proudly supports associates in their individual efforts to make a positive change in their communities. Through the UMB Matching Gift Program, when a UMB associate makes an eligible financial contribution to a qualified nonprofit organization, UMB matches it dollar-for-dollar up to $250 annually, per associate (1,010 associates participated in 2021). They also hold a company-wide workplace giving campaign each year so associates can support qualified nonprofits of their choice through recurring payroll deductions.
UMB also encourages associates to give their time, energy and talents back to the community through spirited programs and initiatives. Associates receive 16 hours of paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) each year.
UMB’s charitable giving doesn’t end there. They make it easy for young people to practice healthy shopping on a budget through The UMB Market grocery store simulation. It helps build personal finance basics, including weighing needs verses wants and budgeting. In 2021, the ABA Foundation recognized UMB as the Financial Education winner within their Community Commitment Awards for the UMB Market.
